Our mission
To give retired computers a second life in Ethiopian classrooms, and to give the schools and businesses that retire them a free, secure way to let them go.
Schools and companies here replace their computers every few years, often while they still run well. Many schools in Ethiopia have almost none. Second Chance Electronics connects the two and handles everything in between: the pickup, the data wiping, the repairs and the trip overseas.

Tell us what you have
Send a rough count of laptops and desktops and where they are. We'll set a pickup time that works for you.

We come to your building and haul everything away. There's no charge.

Every drive is fully erased, and you get a certificate of data destruction for each unit.

They go back to class
We refurbish the working machines and send them to schools in Ethiopia.

Before a computer leaves our hands, its drive is fully wiped so none of your files, accounts or records remain. For every unit we collect, you get a certificate of data destruction to keep for your records.

It started with family.
Our founder, Nehemiah Haile, has a grandfather who runs Tsegaye Berhe Woldu High School in Ethiopia. When our computers arrive, he receives them and gets them to students who have very limited access to technology.
His school is where we're starting. As more organizations here donate, we plan to reach more schools across the country.

Does it cost anything?
No. Pickup is free, including machines you would otherwise pay to have recycled.
How do we know our data is safe?
Every drive is fully wiped so nothing from your organization remains, and you receive a certificate of data destruction for each unit.
What do you accept?
Retired laptops and desktops, especially business-class models. Not sure about something? Send us a list and we'll tell you.
Where do the computers go?
Working machines are refurbished and donated to schools in Ethiopia, starting with Tsegaye Berhe Woldu High School, run by our founder's family.
